I use the key pad often when going out biking on trails or at work. I hope the push button start will allow you to lock keys inside the truck or find a setting to by pass it.
If I leave keys hidden in truck no risk of me loosing or damaging the fob while being stupid on tails.
At work I always leave my keys in the truck and lock it. Company policy is to leave keys in truck so I follow the rules just lock it also lol this was part of the reason I stayed with a ford on my latest upgrade.
I remember my mother and father had the fist time Keypad option on their 1980 Ford Thunder Bird the first time ford had the option and then it went on all lincolns and eventually to all ford products.
I couldnt have a car or truck with out it.
Our fusion has a keypad, but don't really need it, as long as the fob is near the car all I need to do is grab the door handle and it unlocks, but you can;t leave the fob in the car because anyone then can unlock it by just touching the handle.

Right, but sometimes you'd like to be able to lock everything in your vehicle. I've been spending hours mowing on a tractor in steep terrain. I certainly don't need my intelligent key falling out of my pocket, or other keys, phone , or wallet. So I lock everything in the truck using the keypad...that's the only way the truck will allow the smart key to be locked in.
Maybe I should try that with the Fusion to see if I can unlock by touching the handle. Ill test it is a few minutes. Cool just tested it works the same on the Fusion yay

On out MKC if my wife leaves hers in the car (in her purse) and I lock the car with the keypad the door handle touch will not unlock the car unless my fob is close enough to be detected. We tried it on a couple of occasions just to be sure we were secure. You may want to experiment with that.
That would be neat if you can leave the fob in the car. I just assumed that if it's inside the car that the door handles would open for anyone.
when i test drove a platinum, the sales guy showed me a “secret” pocket under the tray in the center console. it has a perfectly formed recess for the key fob. i think the idea is leave it in there, then use the code on the door. i bet the doors can only be unlocked with the code and not the touch sensors on the handle

Look in the owners manual. That Secret pocket is to make a duplicate key. It takes both of your key fobs to make a new one. If you lose a key fob you have to go to a dealer to make a new key fob. Better to make a extra one now before you lose one and have to pay the Dealer!!!
Yep....funny so far how many dealers have told customers that it is a secret key holder not even knowing what it REALLY is....lol. Just shaking my head.

Yea I get a kick out of some of the Dealer videos saying the tailgate has two cameras.

good to know. I don’t have a truck yet, nor an owners manual. never owned a ford so this is all new to me. thanks
