I think you should be able to do better than that.

I ordered and this was my deal:

F350 Platinum Crew Cab SRW 4x4 White Metallic FX4 176WB
3.55 Elec Locking Axle
Platinum Ultimate Package
Rapid Heat Supplemental Heater
Engine Block Heater
5th Wheel / Gooseneck Prep Package
Rear Inflatable Seat Belts
Indv. Trlr TPMS/Trlr Camera Prep Kit
Upfitter Switches
Tough Bed Spray-in Bed Liner
20” Wheel Locks

Negotiated Price:

$79,680 MSRP with all options
$75,107 Invoice with all options
($1000) Ford Retail Cash Incentive
($1500) Additional negotiated savings off of invoice price
$72,607 Final negotiated price*

*: I got them to put in writing that there will be a further reduction in price if additional incentives or better incentives come out before truck is built and delivered.

Sounds like the dealer gave you half their holdback or where did the $1,500 additional negotiated savings come from?

Thanks for sharing!

The best is invoice. Some that have good relationship with dealer may get a bit more off or a better trade in value. Also, in writing or not, dealer cannot promise anything for rebates. If a better one is available when you take delivery, you will automatically get it. If nothing is available, you get that.
Also a dealer giving you $1500 off invoice and then the $1000 rebate does not sound honest on "invoice" or you were wearing a really short skirt.

I was happy with my deal of $2500 below invoice. It is a good honest dealer. Our company has used them for significant fleet business for many years. Long-term relationship used to negotiate $2500 below invoice ($1000 incentive and the extra $1500 negotiated discount amount).

That is a good price. Most dealers don't want to go much lower than straight invoice and then an extra $1000 off for the incentive.

I got them to waive the $113 fuel charge they wanted and throw in some free oil changes.

Exactly what I was thinking. If you are not doing large fleet volume or have a great long time relationship with dealer....

Pricing it a bit different in canada but my fully loaded platinum f350 6.7. MSRP was about 93,000 and i got about 15,000 below the msrp and 57,000 on my trade in (2016 f250 platinum 6.7) it had about 43,000k on it

i got lucky and ended up dealing with the sales manager and not one of the sales guys tho! and he had to pry me away from another dealership i was loyal to!

My dealer gave me half of his hold back as well. It worked out to an additional $1,200 off. Add in the rebate and I ended up $2,200.00 under invoice.

IMO, when ordering a vehicle, a person should ask for part of the holdback. Of course the dealer needs to make money, but...holdback is intended to cover carrying costs since the vehicle must be paid for once the dealer takes delivery of the truck. However, none of us are going to let a truck we ordered sit on the dealer lot for any significant amount of time hence the dealer has little to no carrying costs. That means the holdback mostly becomes profit. Also, holdback is a percentage of the MSRP so the more expensive the vehicle, the higher the holdback. These trucks are far from cheap....there's a significantly larger holdback built into them. For a stock vehicle yes, for a special order....open to negotiation. I think the rub for some dealers is that people sometimes cancel orders and that's a fair concern. To help alleviate this, I always give my dealer a few thousand down. Just my opinion.
