recently bought 99 mount looking to make it deeper and louder and get some more power/milage. Concidering dual exhaust with high flow cats to flowmasters 45" out in front of the wheels What kind of exhaust do most of you have? i would like to have exhaust out the back with slant tips but i have gas tank and tire in rear any suggestions or comments on what you guys have on your explorors/mounts are appreciated sometime this upcoming week i will have exhaust put on
If you run duals, you have to lose the spare tire. I know some people that have duals, but no one has done it (that I know of) and kept their spare.
I recommend taking off the front 2 cats (the pre cats), then adding a Flowmaster 40 series 2 in 1 out. From there - 3" out the back. You will definitely enjoy the new sound... Should cost you around or less than $250 for the hole job including the muffler...
thats exactly what ill probably do ill have the spare tire taken off and when they put the tail pipes and exhaust tips put on ill have them space them to where i can put in a reciever hitch but about the muffler why shouldnt i just replace the muffler i have with a flowmater than has 2 in 2 out instead of 2 in 1 out?
I've got a Spintech 2-1/4 dual in, 3" out and it is the best sounding truck around here. It's different from the same old flowmaster sound, great cruising sound and when you get on it it gets even better. The best part is that it's made out of 16 gage aluminized steel, so it won't rust out in two years like the other guys. The 3" pipe was kind of a pain, but I brought it straight out and kept the spare. It cost less than 200 bucks installed, but you've got to take it to someone you can trust fishing that 3" tailpipe out the back. Good luck.
borla makes a nice setup for explorers a bit pricey but none the less a good setup. and all borla's products are made with t303 aircraft quality stainless
