2002 7.3 injector sticking?
When I first start it the morning there is a definite miss. I've pulled codes and nothing shows up. Buzz test sounds good, even after sitting a week without being started. Cylinder Contribution test only returns #8.
Pull out of the driveway onto the road and it drives ok, but at low rpm you can feel it missing. The first time I punch it and get the rpms up around 2800-3000 the miss goes away and doesn't come back even after sitting 8-10 hours at work. Sure enough, the next morning it's back again until I run the rpms up while driving.
I'm thinking that #8 is sticking or something, considering just replacing it as everything else looks good. HPOP pressures are within spec, ICP duty cycle, etc, all look good when monitoring.
Anything else I can/should check before swapping that injector? It's been like this pretty much the entire time I've owned it, MPG has always been better than I expected (16-18 mixed, hand calculated), and power is great once all injectors are firing, just getting tired of the annoyance, and I'm sure my neighbors are getting tired of hearing a straight piped diesel romp wide open at 6am going down the street.
