So after this weekend's hurricane my 2011 f-250 started to making a noise when I accelerate. I don't know if water got in some where. But there's no MIL light coming on.
To me it sounds like a bearing or something on it's way out...possibly alternator...idler pulley, tensioner etc. I'd pull the belt and give everything a spin by hand and see if anything feels rough. Also look for movement in the pulleys themselves, as well as one that doesn't look like it's sitting perfectly straight.
Well if it is not changing tone when turning the wheel I agree with sxrfun about removing the belt, start the truck if the noise goes away then check each component alternator, idler pulley, belt tensioner, etc.
Top off any fluids, and make sure they are not overfull. (possible water contamination)
Well I have seen excess water take out a turbo on one of the trucks at work....and by excess water I mean we submerged the air intake inlet under water so a lot went through the turbo lol. Did you drive through any water that was above bumper level? Not sure on your truck where air inlet is exactly but on my 08 it's behind the passenger headlight...so that's how high the water would have to be to ingest it in excess. How much water was in the intake....How wet was the filter? Reason I ask is just general driving in heavy rain it is very possible to suck some rain into the intake.....I know it happens up hear with snow a lot......which would make air filter damp and put some water in intake.
It wasn't much water. But doing more research. It seams that it may possibly be the west gate solenoid or west gate actuator. Has anyone dealt with this?
