I'm trying to get my truck smogged and having problems w/po475. A friend of a friend said it was the DFPE sensor. So I bought one for $120 bucks but can't find where it goes. On YouTube it is only listed for F150's and gas motors it seems. I have a 00 f350SD 7.3, do I even have a DFPE and if so where is it located. Any info would help.
Thanks
He even had a print out on how to clear the code after it's replaced? I looked it up and it is for po471 code and something like an egr problem. . Do diesels have egr valves?
You may need to pull the Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor and clean it.
Using a code reader and advice of a friend of a friend on a Jurassic diesel is dubious at best - and very expensive at the worst. You are in the right place now - the "collective" knows how to troubleshoot these rigs down to the individual component.
If you have a smart phone or other portable device, you may want to click on the OBDII tools in in my signature.
If you are getting the P0471 code, I'd start with the EBP Sensor and tube, as Rich mentioned. We need to know what exact codes you are getting to point you in the right directions. Get us more information and report back.
