Help with front end noise...

I want to start by saying I have read countless threads about this topic, yet I haven't heard of one member SOLVE the problem and explain exactly what the problem was. There have been many possibilities discussed, but I need a FIX. Possibly a solution was found, but forgot to post what it was...

TRUCK: 2003 F250 S/C Long bed 4x4 7.3 Diesel
PROBLEM: grinding noise in left front when slowing and stopping.
Starts as a howlong noise, turns into a grinding as you brake and come to a stop.
I feel it in the pedal and as it slows it feels like metal to metal brakes

WHAT HAVE WE DONE: Replaced both front hub assemblies (MOOG)
Replaced dust shields, rotors, calipers, pads as well as all new brake hardware.

At any speed when I brake hard it grinds and howls, I have taken out the 4x4 locking hub assembly and it does not change the situation. I am stumped!

Ok, with all of the people experiencing similar problems on here, someone must have figured it out(maybe just forgot to post the remedy)....and when I figure it out(hopefully with members help) I will post the solution for my truck...
Thanks in advance,
Danny

Maybe there's something just loose enough to move a little bit and scrape/grind against something else when the weight shifts as you're braking.

Look for shiny (rubbed) junction points.

Does it do it when you brake going in reverse? If not, that kind of supports that something is moving forward a bit and rubbing when you braking going forward.

Just a thought.....

What about your front axel parts? Have they been looked at?

That looks like it's next on the list...I feel like I'm doing everything everyone else has done in similar sequence...the only problem is that no one posted whether or not what they replaced solved the problem...someone out there must have succeeded in solving the problem, just wished they would post it before I keep throwing parts at it...lol!

PROBLEM SOLVED! I had a bad hub on the front left, so while we were doing it I replaced the right hub as well....the brakes looked good as new so when I noticed that it was still making noise I replaced the front brakes as well ( thinking maybe there was a caliper sticking or something). WE WERE SO HYPER FOCUSED ON THE FRONT AREA THAT WE NEVER THOUGHT THE NOISE COULD BENCOMING FROM ANYWHERE ELSE... It sounded like it was from the same area on the front as the hub. Had a buddy drive it in the parking lot turning circles around me and braking.....it was the rear...ugh!

Here is the RIGHT rear rotor....yikes...we are idiots....guess that is what happens when you think you know it all and don't check everything else out as well...

That's a really strange thing to have happen, I've changed a lot of brakes and rotors over my 63 years but never have I ever seen anything like this happen. Just for my fellow Canadians and maybe for our American neighbours, I feel I get a more than fantastic deal on brake rotors and pads. Max Advanced Brakes - ELITE xDS Series Combo Brake Kit at Maxbrakes.com
Brake Kits - ELITE xDS Series Kits - Max Advanced Brakes - ELITE xDS Series Combo Brake Kit, ELITE xDS Series Combo Brake Kit, Front & Rear Axle Set, Item #: KT057883
Not Available
Leave warehouse in 1 - 5 business days.
$375.16
SALE: $187.58
That's 4x Max ELITE xDS Cross-Drilled & Slotted Disc Brake Rotors
(2 Left & 2 Right | Front & Rear Axle)

2 Sets of Max Performance Ceramic Disc Brake Pads
(8 Pieces | Front & Rear Axle)

The black coating prevents rusting except where the pads wear it off and the stopping power increases incredibly more. I find in central Ontario the winter driving fills in the drilled holes so I simply remove the wheels in the spring and run the appropriate drill size straight through since they line up front and back and only takes a few minutes each to do. I can't buy the pads up here for the price Max Brakes charge for the whole package. These are also the same for the F-150 but you have to order them since they aren't a stock item and takes a little longer to arrive at your door with no delivery charge.
