A little input needed here please. I've got an appt. to have a fiberglass roof top to replace my 1956 rusted version and I'm contemplating having the BBW conversion done in the near future depending on how this works out.
Terry's F100's is doing the top and they can do the BBW in fiberglass but their piece goes all the way to the bottom of the cab. Obviously, the metal version that's widely sold is different in size. The fiberglass BBW panel is $600 and the metal is anywhere from $495 to $699. Any thoughts?
I put the midfifty unit in my 56. Not a bad job if you have metal working skill. I guess it would depend on how good the back of the cab is, does it need cab corners? This is a job by itself and takes time and some readjusting the corners themselves. The window opening will take time too. mine came out fine. I have a 56 C600 I want to do the big back window to. This truck needs the roof repaired or replaced when I do it.
What's your plans for seats in this truck, the stock bench might be okay with a big window but depending on what other seats you might choose maybe not what you want to see looking in through that big window, glass will be a lot more expensive too. Just some things to consider. If your roof is rusted out around the drip rails they can be repaired if you take your time and do it in small sections..

It was redone in the late 80's and I'm too tall for the stock seat so I put a mid 80's Buick 60/40 seat that's also due for replacement. As far as glass- I see it from $189 to almost $300- depending on the vendor.

On another note, they say it doesn't hurt to ask! I emailed LMC, asking if they would meet a competitor's price on the big back window and was promply told "NO." I'm sorry but I refuse to pay 25% more ($200) for the same product that everyone else sells. I guess that's one more excuse to continue buying from MidFifty!

BBWs are nice but just remember that head rests are important in case of a rear end collision. If you don't have them and your head goes through the rear window if you are hit from behind then brain stem damage is a likelihood.

A big shoutout to GlassmanBruce of our forums and Billy at Terry's! If you need any parts- Billy has them!
I dropped my truck off at Terry's this morning to have a new roof and a bbw conversion done and got the big tour of the shops. Amazing sight at all the trucks- mostly 53-6 F100's and all the parts amassed in Terry's storage areas! What a great bunch of guys!
I'm sure a lot of you read the story but I was wondering about the '56 that was done on Misfit Garage- the fact that they purchased a small window 56 but finished with a big window truck. Apparently the misfits figured out that their purchase required too much work so Discovery Channel contacted Terry, looking for a good '56 and Terry transported it to them in Dallas! upsbroke3's Library | Photobucket

Personally I don't like the BBW ,much prefer the small window for looks. The trucks originally didn't have headrests either that I'm aware of.
