A couple of pictures of this tank installed. Because of the bed shape the fitting going to fuel system has to go down rather than out as in the past. I moved the tank 6" from the front to allow it to open once the BakFlip is installed.
Not sure how you live without a bed liner. My wife and I are fulltimers and I throw so much stuff back there my bed would be dead in a year. I like the RDS!! I had the 100 gallon with tool box version in my old dually. Are you doing gravity feed??

Yes gravity feed,,, when we are somewhere that I can schedule getting spray in bedliner it will be done...a couple of more weeks on the move yet.
I was thinking of doing a similar install. I am curious if you have had any issues? I heard post 2012 models don't work with gravity fed tanks. Also what made you decide on RDS?

This is my 3rd RDS and they have all been great tanks and well built. The gravity feed works great, had on my 15 with no problems, and is much easier to use than transfer tank, but only work on diesels.

I got mine w/o the liner because I plan to replace it very soon, but managed to scratch it to hell anyways. :/
I love the bigger tanks that are used on the 2017 SD's.. but I still want more. I swapped my OEM tank on my 2012 250 for a 50 gallon, a no brainer for my needs. It's a tougher call this time. I ordered a 2017 shortbed which has 34 gallons. So im either going to try to go with another 50 gallon swap underneath if someone offers one.. or, an aux tank in the bed. The only problem with a tank in the bed for me is there isn't much real estate in a shortbed to start with and even less when you put in a Fiver hitch.

Yeah, this is a problem. I love the range I get with the 50 gallon. The option that makes the most sense right now is the Titan tank that's in place of the spare tire. Works like a transfer flow with a pump and all. That way you'll plenty of gallonage and keep the factory tank in place.
I've looked at the current OEM tank and there's not a lot of room to make a bigger tank fit in there. They DEF tank is two gallons larger and tucked up right next to the fuel tank. It would probably have to be repositioned for anything the size of a 50 gallon tank to fit. I'm waiting for options and can make the 34 gallon tank work until towing season next year.

Dude we think so much a like... I went to the local dealership and crawled under one of the short bed F-350's on the lot and came up with the same concerns. Definitely a lot less space than on the 2011.
I too am waiting to see what the options are and can make do until the spring easily. But man am I dependent upon my 50 gallon Titan. That alone is probably the main thing I will miss off of my 2011.
I do most of my towing through the mountains and finding a station with diesel can be challenging at times. I agree 34 gallon is great to have, however I would love to not have to stop for fuel on my camping trips. The RDS looks like a great option, especially as I have a BAKflip MX4 coming. My major concern is the gravity feed, as I do regular trips over the boarder. Not sure if there is any legal issues with carrying that much fuel. The Titan 50 gallon tank replacement tank would be perfect, however I really doubt it will be possible on these trucks.
With the 48 that comes with mine and the 40 extra it give me about 700 mile range towing which is more than I will do in a day...really hate fueling with TH connected.

lol, kinda weird. Here's weirder: my college daughter has a Focus SE and my wife has an Explorer Sport.
I hadn't thought about replacing the spare with an aux tank, love the idea.. but where do I put my spare? will it fit in the bed with a retractable cover, a Fiver hitch and the tail gate closed? Times like this I re-consider the long bed, but I live in the city and living with with a CC Long bed for a daily driver is a challenge. aargh! LOL

what products do you have for the 2017 super duty? (That fit underneath the truck)
Mike
We are in development of the tanks now, it will still be a few months until they are on sale

My god man! Get the long bed. You can hold more stuff, better ride, and bigger fuel tank. OH NO, it takes a little more room to turn!!!!
Seriously, get the long bed. They are way better. And they look right instead of the short bed soccer mom look.
