This is how most I've seen route it, though some continue over the axle and out behind the wheel. Literally a straight length of pipe off the downpipe and a 90* out the side.
On gas trucks I've crossed under the frame right off the headers and tucked exhaust and mufflers right under the floorboards and out before the wheel on each side. This is likely what I'd do with a NA IDI if a turbo was not in the works, in which case I'd get the IDI long tube headers too.

Ya no turbo for seen in the future. Can't ever find a used one. Might wind up manufacturing one. Anyways being a 2wd truck I hate how the y pipe shoots it off under the tranny crossmember. Looks like a might drag it
