I recently posted about my dash having problems and pirate camo 4x4 posted a link to a place that specializes in fixing dashes. apparently theres alot of SD that have problematic dashe panels and this place replaces relayes, capacitors, etc
(thanks for the link havent got my dash out yet)
Is there anyway this would cause my batteries to die?
Ive neer had a vehicle that had two batteries . Its hard to believe they both could drain in a day. What are the common causes for SD / X batteries to drain?
Mine was a bad alternator. It was a Ford reman with a sticker that said reman on it. Those are known to be bad. I put a new Bosch unit on and haven't looked back.
Be aware, since you're new to diesels, the 6.0 you have has a Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM for short) that can be adversely affected by voltage.
Voltage can be a finicky thing in a 6.0L.
Make sure you peruse, search, and read the 6.0L PSD forum too for information.
It was the alternator. as we drove it off the mecahnics lot we noticed the rear cargo light was on. my children were playing with it and left it on. which ran down the batteries which ran down the alternator I guess. 377$ lesson.
What happens is the batteries get drained beyond what the alternator can put out and the vehicle ends up running on just the alternator and burns it up.
