I hooked up a trailer to my truck for the first time the other day. After being disconnected from the trailer now my screen defaults to the tow haul screen every time I get in. I like to have trip A up by default. How do I change this.
Very good question. The 2015+ F-150 has this same annoying feature. The only way I can figure out how to get ride of the towing screen is to delete off the trailers...which is a shame considering I do like the feature that keeps track of trailer mileage and brake gain. Why can't the screen go away when you unplug the trailer?
Nah, they just do dumb things. For example, on the 2016 truck the backup sensors turn off if you plug in a 7-pin trailer connector but not if you plug in a 4-pin connector. Did Ford really think the driver wanted to listen to frantic beeping every time they tried to reverse a 4-pin trailer?

Quite a few people actually plug in a 4-pin connector for an LED light bar under the tailgate (the kind with brake, running and turn signals), or a hitch cover with a light in it. They're probably erring on the side of caution here.

Not buying it for two reasons: One, Ford feels there would be no reason other than personal preference for someone to have 4 brake lamps on the back of their truck. I highly doubt that thought even entered their mind when they chose to "forget" to turn off the beepers for the 4-pin.
The other reason is that on the new truck and the 2015 F-150, it turns off for the 4-pin now.
My 2005 Land Rover would turn off the backup beepers if you plugged in the 4 or 7 pin. I was pretty disappointed when my first "real towing vehicle" (a 2012 Super Duty) did not turn them off!

At least they have rectified that for now.
My '08 doesn't shut them off, but it's just a simple push of a button.
What am I going to do when I get a new truck...I won't have anything to do but push the go pedal!

How's the 6.4L been? I've heard some people have good luck, others bad luck, and pretty universally poor fuel economy.
We rent the back of our building to a paving company. They have one Ford in their entire fleet, and its a 6.4L truck. The guy who drives it says the engine has been fine but it rides like a buckboard.

Really, fuel economy is my only complaint. My average since I bought it with 26k on it is 12.6 MPG (I track it all at fuelly.com). That's with a mix of city, highway, and towing. The best ever, a tank full of highway driving going easy on the pedal the entire tank is 17 ish. Towing my fifth wheel with a loaded weight of around 9500 lbs, I'm usually around 9 +/-. It tows great and has no issues, I would just like a bit more fuel economy out of it.
The only issue I've had (knock on wood) is the leaky radiator. It was replaced under the extended warranty. I've got 71k on it now, so not a ton of miles. Oh, and yeah, it does ride like a buckboard, especially compared to the 2017 I drove. Amazing how much better the new truck is.
Thanks, I got it fixed now but this is just stupid. It knows that a trailer isn't hooked up so why would it keep a trailer active
Gives us something to look forward to in 2018! But since it is a computer pressure on everyone's service department might be fuel for part of a firmware upgrade. There are bound to be other changes required so make noise at the dealers and get them to send in issues and there might be some useful changes in a few months, or not.
