I was heading to Sacramento to get my bed liner installed. I had the navigation going and Sirius pumping. All off a sudden the nav screen froze for 10 or so seconds and the music stopped. The screen then went totally black. About 15 seconds later the FORD symbol comes up and just sits there. It then turn back on the radio, then nav and then my phone connection and then the nav screen comes back on. It now however does not have my destination loaded. I went to RECENT destinations and it was not there. Really sucked as I had to then pull over to get the address again. Any ideas what happened???
Sounds like a spontaneous reboot which would mean a software issue. You'll need to be able to duplicate that behavior a couple of times before you go to the dealer. The nav obviously doesn't save the current destination until a later time. Maybe when you exit nav or enter another destination which is why it wasn't in the list after the reboot.
There's just so many things that could be, even a hardware or wiring issue.

I had that happen, I was on the phone, everything went blank and it did restart itself and the ford symbol popped up as stated.

I have seen a few update and reboot but this does seem odd.
Try to keep phone ready to record if you can and show dealer.
I had that happen with my 2013 Focus a couple years back. Radio (Ford Sync) shut down and everything stopped. I continued to destination with it off. After getting back into my car to return home it started right up. It has not happened again
Mine did the same thing.... been 4000 miles since. Just think it was updating or something. Then..... at about 3000 miles the GPS froze solid. Much like your home computer does. I pulled over and shut the motor off for about five min then restarted it. The GPS came back up as normal. I deleted save destinations to see if the memory was full or something..... Works fine. Going in for servicing soon and will bring all this to their attention.
It is worth getting the problem in front of the dealer so that it can be logged in order to indicate to the issue to the technical service bulletin guru's. There may have already been a bulletin released as well. But since Sirius now has the navigation I suspect an update to either their system or mapping. OR it may be Snowden is tracking your movements to some nefarious means.

That is some good advice right there. It may be really difficult to duplicate it but at least you can be ready to video record it when it happens. This is true for any weird thing that happens sporadically in the truck. Just record it as best you can.
Had that happen a couple of time in our '15 Fusion, everything turned off but still had ac and audio, couldn't control them though. had to disconnect the battery on one occasion to do a hard reboot. That is on Sync2 interesting thing is I have never had any thing like that on my F150 with sync1
Random issues are the worst. I am not sure the phone video would do much but prove that it happened. Since the screen goes blank there is no technical information to gain plus you might cause an accident trying to get the phone working in a timely manner.
One would think that the truck computer would have logged an event in the system like that. Might be something a technition can see from his laptop connected to the truck.
