2017 v10 lower hp

We have a new 2017 f550 on order with the v10. We have just be notified that ford has de-rated the v10 down to 288Hp. This truck is for a brush truck build, for our fire department. The lower Hp has me concerned. Any thoughts?

Just guessing but I would be willing to bet it's emissions related....

What was it before?

Maybe CAFE standards are higher now.

Try and find out what rpm they are taking the hp rating at and compare it to the rpm that it was rated at before, it could be like the lower numbers the 6.2 has when you go to a F350, same tune same motor but they pull the numbers at a lower rpm so it looks derated to please the government.

Yes the data is at a lower rpm. 288hp @4,000 rpm. 424 lb-ft torque @ 3,000rpm
2016. 385hp @ 5'500 rpm. 405 lb-ft torque @ 4,500rpm

Sounds like they did the same thing as they did with the 6.2l in the F-350 and heavier trucks. Don't list peak numbers but at a certain rpm they choose.
