currently have 3" single exhaust, no cats and a super 44 flowmaster, sounds great when warm and is quiet on startup, but in the morning its twice as loud. ive been told the VCT has the cams in the fully retarded position on cold startup making it loud, just wondering if there is a way to program it so it doesnt go through this cycle when cold

 

A tuner may be able to do it but I'm thinking it's in the part of the programing that can't be changed because of emissions. My with stock exhaust its louder on startup when cold and it does sound regarded ( timing not mentally ).

I'm decatted and dropped one resonator. I love the loud cold start up and then how it just quiets right out. I have no idea if it's possible to change the programming although myself I wouldn't even if it could be done. I'm custom tuned as well.

You can set the idle high, but it will not change once the trucks warms up.

Lowering the idle does not always work as the manufacturers sometimes set a min idle speed that cant be lowered due to emissions concerns.

re: When the truck is warm, it idles at 600 at startup, when cold its around 1200 for a minute or so and is pretty loud for where I live. all I want to do is get a custom tune so when its cold it will start up and idle at normal speed. Im aware the 2 idle adjustments on the i1000 will not effect whatever ford has programmed the truck to do on a cold start.

they didnt respond after that, they were supposed to have excellent tech support and even send you custom tunes after sending them data logs, they refuse to do that and told me to go to a local shop when I tryed to get one last year.
