for about $1000 any old 3.5L eco can make those numbers, *with* a supplemental warranty that kicks in if your dealer denies a claim because of the tune.
Voided warranty and trust me these places saying that will back it will bail quick if given the right circumstances and blame the truck owner all day long
no, not voided warranty. the warranty stays perfectly intact. They might deny an individual claim because of the tune, but anything unrelated is still 100% covered. Any warranty company, Ford included, will "bail quick if given the right circumstances". That's what they do. It's a calculated risk. For my money, the $500 spent on the supplemental warranty is good insurance against the very slight chance I'll need to make a warranty claim that Ford will end up denying.
Be very interesting to hear if the plain-jane F150 version gets similar numbers, or a more moderate tune . . . .
Then you start wondering if you could reflash "up" to the raptor tune.
plain-jane 2nd gen 3.5L eco is going up to 375 hp / 470 tq for 2017. the raptor tune will probably not be available from Ford, but I would bet that the 2nd gen will be capable of 450/500+ before there are any real concerns with driveline or engine internals. i am pretty sure the raptor engine is just getting exhaust/intake/tune versus the regular one. everything else should be the same.
