I finally got the side mirrors replaced with ford mirrors. The aftermarket replacements have bothered me for a loooong time.

The cheap Amazon seat cover got bad enough my son was begging me to replace it since it was so itchy.
After vacuuming it for the first time it shredded even more. This thing was less than 2 years old.
I replaced it with another cheap cover, but the new one is from a farm supply store. We'll see.

Rusty

Your truck is much less rusty than mine! How is the project going?

I would really call it a project since it doesnt require and doesn't receive much of my time/money. It sounds stupid but it's more like a journey. Maybe the final tour still applies, just no end in sight!

what you see is what it looks like now. The only thing that has changed is it got snowed on for the first time this year.

That would be a neat addition!

It's cold for me too but 4 or 5 months from now it will feel warm. 😉

Here are some day time pictures:

Just look at those lines!

It has one of those pliers grip lock out hubs. Must be an anti-theft device.

I wonder if the CB works.

Good drainage in the bed.

I really like these old state themed full size mud flaps. I wish they were still popular and available. These will go on a wall, probably with the original rusty brackets.

Also the angle iron bumper hitch reinforcement is totally something Dad would have done.

The end gate is actually really easy to open and shut.

Good firm running boards, huh?

So many memories looking at that dash.

Patina!

See the milk jug rain shield?

If you do decide to part this out, I am interested in gauge cluster and gauges as well as the Airfilter (at least). Forget this I had not read all the way through. Good luck with the Rusty Journey.

I think my ignition switch might be going on the Fritz a bit. Sometimes the blinkers won t work and if I restart it that usually temporarily fixes it. Last time they didn't work I noticed that none of the battery powered gauges were working either . I shut the thing off while rolling and turned the key back on to see what would happen. They all worked after that.

I suppose I should dig into it further one of these months.

That used to happen to my 86 diesel. I could just fiddle with the switch and get the gauges to come back to life while driving. Sometimes the gauges would come back but the battery accessories wouldn't and I would have to do more fiddling.

So far jiggling the ignition switch is sufficient.

With the nicer weather I've been putting miles on Rusty . Made a 100 mile round trip with ease about a week ago.

I had a 60 mile trip over the weekend to pick up a sickle mower for parts. Good thing I have that new leaf spring!

Yesterday I fixed the dangling rubber bumper on the grille guard. It would be nice if one for the other side would fall into my lap.

I added a ground to the starter and fixed the passenger running board well enough to support my little kids.

I love this old thing. Works like a champ!

Ignition switch is coming loose, drop the colomn down, make sure the key switch is in run, and tighten down the switch on top of the column.

Nice truck
I miss my 80's trucks.

Meme worthy brakes

I parked rusty for most of the summer and drove my 77 around instead. When I got it out a few weeks ago I was reminded of the growling coming from the front passenger brake.

Tada!

I had never done inboard disks before so that was an experience. I cheated on the drivers side and just swapped new pads.

Life is happy again.
