I recently had a problem with my clutch and jumped the saftey switch. Through reading many posts I realized that it is probably the firewall flexing. But now when I start it it revs really high, then idles down. Please Help.

What I did on my truck was to remove the safety switch and clean it out with WD40. The grease that the factory puts in had accumulated dirt through the years and eventually resulted in a no contact situation. After cleaning and reinstalled, even though my firewall still flexs, the safety switch works great. The high initial rev could be from the computer not seeing that you have your pedal depressed or released. If you need help in removing the switch, reply back and I'll give you some tips.

I'd be very interested in the removal of my safety switch. My truck's a '92 F-150 4x4 and sometimes you have to push the pedal down two or three times before it will turn over, I'd be grateful if you could help me fix it Any information is appreciated!!!!

OK, start by finding the smallest pair of needle nosr pliers you have.Lay on your back on the floor, reach up the pliers in one hand to gently unlock the tab that holds the harness in place and use the other hand to help wiggle the harness straight up. This has got to be the hardest part, just dont get frustrated. After that, pull down on the lock strap (directly underneath the switch, rubber coated tip) and move the switch forward a lil and turn it around so the flat side faces you. On the flat side is a cover that has 2 lock tabs that you gently compress , then slide the cover back a lil until it clears the switch. Now you can remove the switch from around the rod. At the bench, flush out the old gunk with WD40 or simular (not liquid wrench #1, it dont like voltage). You can actually see all the contacts and exactly how the inner part of the switch slides back and forth, very very simple. You can even verify switch operation with a Multimeter. To reinstall the switch, you will have to slightly compress the inner slide to get it to fall into the groove on the clutch rod.The rest is cake mix, put the cover back on,slide the switch forward to engage the lock strap and connect the harness.
