Funny thing if you stare at that picture long enough a car appears in the background

I wonder why '60 Fords seem so scarce? Perhaps they didn't sell that many. I was 10 at the time. I always liked the body lines.

My folks bought their first "new" Ford at the famous Galpin Ford in Van Nuys, Ca. It was a '60 2 Dr. Ranch wagon. Talk about scare! Very collectable today. We logged many miles through two 292's over the years. It was mine in High School which held my Surfboads, my future Wife and...... the obligatory '60s "Chicka-Chicka-Bow-Wow" custom fit Matress.

By the way Buddy. I was too lazy to respond on the "Naked Show" thread but my guess is your truck (despite your stubborness to not have a single color ), would clearly be better on the eyes

Wray Brothers Ford was located in Van Nuys (on Van Nuys Blvd.).

Galpin back then (when it was owned by Frank Galpin), was located in Tujunga, moved to Roscoe Blvd. in Sepulveda (now North Hills) in the 1970's.

You're absolutely correct. Probably was Wray

No intention to High-Jack. I just got all reminiscent. A quick story and I'll bow out.

In '70, I bought a Mustang Coupe from Galpin on Roscoe. While there, they had the first Cobra I had ever seen in the Showroom. They fired that 427 up and drove it out. I was mesmerized.

Back then, you could order any configuration from a wide-range of options on a check-list. I ordered a Plain-Jane Body. Just Mach Wheels but no Scoops, Stripes or Badges. I ordered a 351, Wide Ratio Top Loader, a 390 Trak-Lok (or whatever they called it) and all the Performance / Suspension goodies. $3500 out the door @ $50/Month.

I installed Headers, had Gil of Gil's Mufflers do his magic and with an Intake and CFM upgrade, it ran well against Z-28s. Being raised in Canoga Park, Van Buys and Sepulveda were all the same to me. Lots of Speed Shops. A hot-bed of Muscle Cars, Street Racing, and Crusing. Good Stuff.

Just think how much more fun Erector sets would have been if they came with power screwdrivers.

They did. During my childhood at least...

(just as long as you had an extra $12.99, which of course my parents didn't)

During my childhood if they had they would have weighed as much as a spare tire.
