I plan on re sealing all of my injectors tomorrow, so I go to the dealership to buy eight injector seal kits and I notice motorcraft only comes with three o rings. It looks like the two bottom o rings for the fuel and a o ring for the wire connector and it does not come with the top o ring for the oil. I wish I could just order the seal kit from Alliant, Bostech or another reputable dealer but I would like to do the job tomorrow. Oreilys has the BWD injector seals in stock http://http://www.oreillyauto.com/si...itemDetailTab_
This o ring kit comes with seven o rings and I can only think of four o rings that is on the injectors, two on the bottom for the fuel, one on the top for the oil and one for the wire connector. Where do the other three go?
One is a copper washer -one the top injector seal -one for the inside of the wire connector - outside of wire connector- two fuel orings and a snap ring
Yes two extra. Are you sure you can't wait to do the orings and get a kit that will last. Hate to see you have to do it again because the material was substandard. If your not going to do the top injector orings I would get the Ford parts and make sure the copper washer is in the bag if not get eight of them.
If you don't change the copper washer... do not remove the injectors. That seals them, any time those injectors come out, you need to replace the copper washer at a minimum.
Yes I'm doing top injector seals and nipple cup seals in the oil rail. I have a hpo leak and fuel in the oil, so I was just going to change all o rings and copper washers while I'm in there. I have heard bad reviews on aftermarket injectors but not to many on aftermarket o rings. I hope these will be good quality.
We have seen several failures with BWD on the top seal. Cant speak for the rest of the seals on the injector but the top seal is a softer seal and wears quickly.
So when I originally air tested the hpo system I could hear a small leak coming from the passenger side valve cover. Today I pulled the valve cover and air tested again, closed the Ipr and couldn't really find a definitive leak. If I stuck a hose under the oil rail and listen from the other end I can hear a small leak somewhere but it sounds more like it could be coming from down in the engine and not the injectors. Since I was in there I went ahead and pulled all the injectors and installed new seals anyway. I have read that if you air test the system the high pressure oil pump is supposed to leak a little bit. I wonder if that's what I'm hearing? Or could the oil pump itself be leaking bad enough to cause a hot no start condition?
Update... after replacing the injector seals I pressured the oil rails up before putting the valve covers on. This time there was air blowing from around injector #3. So I pulled the oil rails and replaced that o ring again only to find that that didn't help. Then I replaced all nipple cup seals, didn't help. Finally I used a air nozzle with the rubber tip on it, set the air pressure to 40 psi and stuck it on the top of the injector and air is blowing out of the two holes on either side of the hpo inlet. It would be my guess this injector is bad and needs replacing. Could this be the hot no start problem I was having?
