EEC no timing advance

I have a 1992 F150,5.8l w/E4OD

The last service I did was to replace the MLPS after it's rusty/balky operation caused me to break my shift lever.

Several weeks later [it does not get driven much] it presented with low power, bogging down on throttle.

I have timed it w/SPOUT out at 10 BTDC and it idles fine. Whenever I advance RPM I do not get any timing advance [measured with timing light at the harmonic balancer] As a result it backfires out the intake and falls flat on it's face.

I have replaced the TPS and swapped with a known good ICM [when I tried the ICM it was not grounded so the swap may not be valid but other posts say the ICM only controls timing at idle]

Can anyone give me an idea why I have no timing advance with RPM/load?

BTW I can only start with starting fluid

Thanks Bill

Fixed it by taking out the ECM and replacing the 3 largest capacitors. One was badly burnt and hanging by one leg.

For all the folks who say ECM as last resort it only takes a few minutes to pull it out and inspect it. Wish I had done it first

I need to replace mine as well, where did you find the capacitors at? Was it online?
