Found a guy selling a clean 85 F150 XLT, 6 cyl. auto, 2wd, 2door. 134k miles, says it runs good and everything works as should. He said he doesnt have the AC pulley running on the belt, but thats no biggie to me. He has an extra 6cyl and tranny from a wrecked truck to go with it. Truck has a nice wooden flatbed on it as well. He is asking $2000... Is that fair? I was thinking more closer to $1500. Might get it and sell my 96 f150.
$500 difference is well within negotiation range. Is it worth $2000? Probably. Is it worth $1500? Probably. What is it worth to you?
One thing to keep in mind is that many have spent $2K and up trying to polish a turd, (myself included). Priced a paint job recently? How about replacing an engine, or even a set of tires for that matter. Keep an open mind on what you see and judge your purchase accordingly.
Oh yeah, I can see why you would want the bullnose over the later styling. Good luck!
A few variables come into play when determining what a particular vehicle is worth.
Climate : Is there salt used in winter months? Or is it a dry climate.
Saturation : Are there a lot of trucks owned/sold in the area in which you reside?
A truck can be worth $2,000 in Oklahoma but worth $7,000 in Michigan due to it not being exposed to salt. It might help if we knew what area you are in.
