Ok...Here is my problem. I have a 1999 F150 6 cyl with 69,000kms. Stick shift, good condition, no rust, leaks, or wear...and completely paid for. Yes, 69,000 original kms.
I live in the Canadian North, and am moving this summer to southern Canada. Cost to ship the truck out is $2000 roughly on sea lift.
Now should I pay to ship it out, and hopefully drive it a few more years, or sell it for $8,000 to $12,000 "up here" and buy a used, say 2004-8 model once I get moved?
I really like the truck, have not spent much on it except regular maintenance. I also do not want a truck loan if I can avoid it. (I have enough credit card debt as it is.)
Well its nice to not have a truck loan, there are a lot of things you can do with that money that would otherwise be a monthly payment.
the truck it self will last to two or three hundred thousand miles, yea there will be some cost to maintain it .....so if you was to keep it for another 2 or three years that two thousand is well spent.. that is not to say a newer truck would be nice to have...but it boils down to this Want or Need...only you can answer this...but if it was me..i would keep it and buy some nice toy's or invest it...

What would you do?
thx
If you like your truck, then I would keep it for now even if it takes $2000 to ship. Its much cheaper than a different truck would be. Also I doubt you could get that much money for it, KBB lists your truck for around $3000.
In these times right now , I'd definately save your truck. You know it has been taken care of. You know what shape it is in. Buying a used truck you don't really know the condition of it. Spend the 2000 to ship yours. Save another payment. JMO
Your PU is obviously worth much more on Baffin Is than it is in "southern Canada". Presuming a permanent move, you might be better off selling it, if temporary forget paying another $2000 to take it back!. If you can get "$8,000 to $12,000" for yours, put it in the bank, then buy a $4,000 to $6,000 F150 half it's age in "southern Canada". No need for a "truck loan" when you've got up to "$12,000" in cold hard cash! If you go back to Baffin Is. take it up north where it will increase in value enough to easily pay the freight.
