So I was driving to work and the truck lost throttle response. There was very little of it! Came to a stop then it didn't barely want to move, pulled over then it died on me! No clue what to look at! Please help. 2005 6.0 232k miles
Unplug it and then try to start the truck. That forces the PCM to use default values. If the sensors bad and there is enough pressure, it will run.
You can even remove the sensor and look into the hole and see if you can see oil inside...that may confirm a bad STC.. no oil, we'd know its toast.
The STC fitting connects the high pressure oil pump to the oil rail which feed the injectors... without pressure, your truck won't run. They fail unexpectedly, common for the 05-07 truck and mostly UN-diagnosable without a live data gauge.
You need a Scan Gauge 2 from Advance Auto (use code TRT30 to save $50, buy on-lin and do in-store pick up), they cost $159 and then it needs programmed (You Tube) for X-gauges to read live data or Torque Pro ($5) from the Android store and an ELM327 OBDII blue tooth device (Ebay $20) to really figure out whats wrong or we could just start guessing... but we don't want to really do that, its expensive.
Have a BUDDY with a 6.0 that has a gauge or a member near you in Great Falls Montana? that can help? Can borrow a code reader from Advance Auto or Auto Zone to read some ODB codes maybe?
Has that truck been cranking longer after a hot start?
Are you thinking also Dummy Plug and Stand Pipe o-rings Mike? In your experience, how slow of a failure is that, versus the STC that Randy mentioned, which is a pretty rapid failure of HPO pressure... Both strong possibilities...
Camo: do you have any history (records) you can check to see what has been done on the truck in the past?
Sorry about getting to you guys so late. Been a hectic couple of days. I'll be looking at the truck today and let yall know what I find after unplugging the ICP sensor

Not really that well versed, however the STC I did a few months back the truck would start cold great(an 05), prolonged hot starts and sometimes no hot start.
DP's were hard but not shot, however the STC I pulled apart very easily with my fingers once I got it out.
Got's to have something to see things live. There ought to be a big sticker on every 6.0 that reads "Get something to check vitals"
I drove an 04 to the silage pile a few days ago with the CEL on, drove me nuts wondering what the issue was, but it's not my truck.
