I'm looking for a single steering stablizer to help manage my new 33's. I had a Rancho one which I ordered from 4wheelparts, but they sent me the one for the dual front shocks. I have single front shocks. Well they treat their customers horridly, and their mistake cost me $20-I will never buy from them again. Okay,I'm done ranting now, so what brands do you guys use or prefer? How much did you pay for them? Thanks
I have 35s and am wondering whats the difference with a stabilizer? I haven't had any problems yet, excpt once. I was going through 3 feet of mud (top foot water really, lower 2 feet gumbo mud) and my wheels shook violently, as did my steering wheel in the same direction at the same time. It was pretty rough, I was holding on tight, and it shook me. My truck didnt go anywhere, though, I was in mud. I figured this problem would be solved by putting a steering stabilizer on it, and I thought that I ought to do a twin or double stabilizer, since I have 35s and plan on going to 36s or 37s as soon as my current tires give, and Im a "little" agressive when I off-road.
They are shock absorbers for the steering system. They help take the shimmy out of the wheel and help keep the tires going down the road strait. They also help with tire and front-end wear because they dampen the side to side vibrations. For a 35's or bigger it's reccomended to have a dual outfit. 15 years old! Can you even take that rig on the road without your pa?

i use skyjacker i buy from a local shop so if any problems i can talk to a guy face to face.seems easyer no?
Hey guys quick question, by adding duel steering stabilizers dosn't that add extra load to the power stearing system causing added stress/wear? or is it that just the price for added stearing stability? regards Domenico
Not really. Although, if your steering is really dialed in all you will need is the one stabalizer. I only need one with 44's, but the cross over helps with that too. Don't sweat it, most guys put on duals when they don't need it, just get the one.
"Howdy" hey guy's when out and did it on the weakend bought 4 rx 9000 shocks and a rancho steering stabalizer complete kit. Started installing the steering stabalizer using the factory mount on the spring saddle and the supplied mount on the draglink, the problem I have is that on a locked left turn the draglink bracket hits the diff. cover and on a locked right turn the stabalizer bottoms out. Wrong kit? or should I go get a factor draglink mount? I gave up on it tonight, but I will make some calls in the morning so if anybody else has run into this you input would be a great help (ps the truck is a 1997 hd f250 with a dana 60 conversion) regards, Domenico..
Ya know I tried to order a dual rancho steering stabilizer kit from a shop and they kept telling me they didn't make one for my truck. I told em I had a run of the mill D60 up front. They said there was no Rancho kit that would work with mine. I though they were fill of chit but maybe according to domenico they were right...
Made some calls today rancho tech line (useless was on hold for 25 min. and gave up) phoned up ford and tried to buy the stock drag link mounting bracket (held on with u-bolts) not sold seperatly have to buy the whole drag link ($208.00 ) nice eh. The thing that bugs me is that I had an 1988 f350 with the d60 and installed the rancho steering stabalizer on it, I remember it was tight but it did work and cleared the diff. can't remember what I did it was 10 years ago (dang I hate getting old!). So I looked at it again tonight and figure if I make my own draglink bracket I can bring the steering stabalizer 3/4" closer to the draglink it should clear the diff. (the rancho bracket is heavy duty but bulky) It's fustrating spending that kind of coin and then having to fab all your own parts! Oh well the world of custom trucks that's what seperates the men from the boys. Off to the shop talk to you guys in a in a bit. Regards, Domenico..

They can be adjusted from inside the cab using a kit and air pressure from a compressor if thats what you mean?. Had them 0n my 1988 f350 never did bother geting the cab control even though I have on board air on my 1997. Good news I did finish the stabalizer draglink bracket tonight, tomorow will be the true test, install and test to see if it clears the diff cover on a left lock. keep your fingers crossed. regards, Domenico...
