i just had my tranny swapper over to an AOD from a C4. yesterday i noticed that my reverse lights didn't work no big deal but this morning when i got in i now see that my cluster lights nor tail lights don't work. do you think that this has something to do with the neutral safety switch that he tried to make work on the AOD???

The tail and cluster lights shouldn't have anything to do with the transmission swap, unless a nearby harness got damaged in the process.
Please note the tail and cluster lights share a common fuse. I think the logic is if the fuse blows for the tail lights, the inop cluster lights are supposed to get your attention. There is also a second fuse in series for just the cluster lights, with a lower amp rating. The theory for that seems to be if a cluster bulb shorts out, only that fuse will blow and the tail lights will keep working.
truck is a 1984 f150 standard cab long bed. i just had a thought it could be that wiring that i added for the trailer too. ined to check the ground on that when i get home as well as a blown fuse!

fixed!! i had forgot that when i got this truck that a fusible link had blown to the rear taillights and i didn't know how to repair it so i ran a new wire with a fuse from the front to the rear. now when they install the AOD they got the wire sandwiched between the mount and the frame ripping it blowing the fuse. while i was there i re-connected my trailer harnesses so now it should work properly too!

What year is your truck? There were no C4's after 1981.
ok! it was a C5 Transmission. they told me the difference was the valve body.....but since we are going there the insurance company told me that i had a ford ranger going off the V.I.N. number... Cheers...

If your truck is a 1984 F150, it's not a Ranger.
New 'mid-sized' Ranger pickup introduced in March 1982 as a 1983 model, came with I-4 & V6 engines.
