Exhaust for V-10, help needed.

This is what I left in northern Indiana a few weeks ago. Had to cut the hanger, it just wouldn't budge at all.

So now I need a muffler and tail pipe. I found a walker SS muffler, but can't find a mandrel bend tail pipe. Not looking for noise, quiet is best for me.

Any thoughts?

Rockauto

RockAuto has the entire Walker kit, including the muffler you bought and the tail pipe for $262.79. Y pipe, clamps hanger, etc. If you can return the muffler or just sell it, that might be your best option.

A local exhaust shop can fix you right up.

I saw that, but definitely not mandrel bent on the pipe.

I seriously doubt you are going to notice the loss of 1/4hp.

I mean sure, get a mandrel bent one if that is what you want but it isn't going to make any noticeable difference in performance unless the rest of your exhaust system is already free flowing with headers and a well executed routing ( unlike the factory system )

If the mandrel bending is really your hangup. Just have a local shop crush bend you a 4 inch tailpipe and the lack of mandrels should be eliminated. Speaking of exhaust restrictions, have you replaced the Y pipe up front?

Yeah mandrel bent tailpipe means nothing if you haven't taken care of this disaster already. http://assets.bankspower.com/prod_in...k_ypipe_lg.jpg

Never leave it alone, none of the OEM collectors are "good".

A Y would maybe gain me 10% according to 5 Star. It's in the fine print.

10% peak or 10% across all rpms?

Reguardless at 310 hp factory a 10% bump is 31 hp. So claim is 341 hp. That's top of the mark for the fuel system.

I have doubts about anyone wold get that gain. Maybe up to 10%?

Of course if the 10% gain is at 1000 rpm and where motor makes 80 hp or so I could see 88 hp instead of 80 hp in that situation.

It's UP to 10%. The ram's horn does not narrow to 1.5"...

Yes, 2000 and I think 2001 V10's have the ram horn.

I have them on both my 2000 excursions.

They do not narrow down like the newer versions.

They seem to flow ok.

I would leave that ram horn alone, not much room for improvement there. But I still wouldn't worry much about mandrel bent pipe after the cat and muffler. But I still say a local exhaust shop would be your best bet.
