Talking '00 Explorer 5.0 w/'53 F100 body

Looking for performance improvements on my wifes '00 Explorer 5.0. This engine and chassis will be under a '53 F100 body that is in the process of getting built.
It is a 2wd with 3.73 limited slip and auto transmission.
Any recommendations other than forced induction would be appreciated.

Get some of the Ford SVO ( Mustang 5.0 not 2.3 turbo) parts for the 5.0 and have fun. Heck you should already have the GT heads! Yes you can go online and download the new Ford Motorsports Catalog for the 5.0! Any thing from fuel pumps to new computers etc. As for anything else well I'm sure you can find lot's of information on any Ford Mustang Group..

Brave man. I am in the middle of putting a 1952 Chevy on an '83 F150 frame and driveline except the engine which is fuel injected. My suggestions: a lot of patience and Dakota Digital gauges.

Thanks DR Ball for the response. Think I will probably upgrade exhaust and do a programmer at this time.
The '53 f-100 this drivetrain is going under will weigh less than the Explorer so minor mods should work fine.

Thanks Scubanero, decided to have a shop help me with this due to several factors. Am going to use digital gauges since I want to maintain the 5.0 electronics.

Bolt on mods or how deep are you willing to dive in?

Room for headers? Shorty equal lengths or small diameter full lengths.

Cam? When I was playing with my fox body 5.0s there were a number of cam shapes available... B for lower torque. E for more HP but still being emission compliant...

Thanks LeoJr, right now I am looking for bolt on mods as this will be my wife's truck. Thinking about the shorty headers if they will work. Looking for small performance gains and reliable transportation. May even pull a small camping trailer.

Your wife's truck? How cool is that? Could your wife maybe talk to my wife?

Hope the image comes through - this is what we are starting with and she wants to leave the truck exterior patina as is.
