I wish my excursion...
My point is we all come here for one of 3 things:
1. Help with maintenance.
2. Mods and how/suggestions/reviews on them.
3. Looking at others when bank/wife/husband won't let us mod our trucks.
I know we already had a thread like this but I want to do this one just a bit different and make it just a short opinion thread that in a week or so just heads off into the back pages of FTE once everyone has given their input. So here are the rules:
1. List the one mod you really want THAT YOU CAN AFFORD AND WILL AT SOME POINT DO.
2. List the one mod you love YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO AFFORD/COMMIT TO. (Like a 60 inch lift/40 inch wheels/20 subs in the back)
3. List the one thing you would change about your current Excursion if you could (Mileage/transmission/captains chairs/color/year model).
Nice winch, but nothing overly pricey. Just something that will hold it's value and not be junk in a few years.
Mod I want but will never get:
Sweet bitchin twin turbos installed by Matt. Water cooled intercooler, custom upper intake manifold for the twin induction and maybe a meth injection setup... just something simple... maybe a light tune to go with it

Thing I would change about my rig:
Even though I'm over the diesel thing that is the one thing I would change. Am I over the diesel obsession, yes. Will I swap my motor for one if somehow I can magically, **** yeah!!!

As far as the trims there are XLT's that are just as loaded as the Limiteds, it's kind of odd the way they did it really. Ford really didn't seem to put a lot of thought into it.
3. Replace XLT badge with Limited!
2. Banks Headers (Can't justify it yet!).
3. I'm just so happy to finally have an 05, and I wanted the 6.8, 6.0's were easier to find. Would be happy with about half the miles, I'm at 148K.
Soon and very soon I'll have this completed.

A CABT conversion is just not worth it to me because I only do 10,000-12,000 miles per year.

Coil over front (could do/afford but once again not for the miles I do)
The stronger/better 5R transmission but from what I can tell no way to match with a 7.3 (nothing personal against the 6.0).

Thing I would change about my rig:
I would have not bought an oil burner, instead I think I would have gone after a V8, supercharged it (Think F150 Lightning), and then done something like this...
I know not the best photoshop, but you get the idea
Fabricate a custom rear bumper that has some internal storage and has a large enough top surface to work off of to load the kayaks on the roof.
Mod that I will never do but would love
CABT 6 door conversion, that's all, no facelift, dually or deezle.
What I wish I could change about my EX
Besides the obvious wish for lower miles (at 110K now) I don't think I would change anything that it could of had from the factory in '05, except maybe the 3V V-10/5R110. (But I've never towed with that combo so would have to do that before I rubbed the oil lamp).
2. Probably front coil conversion, If I got a rust free Ex I would consider, but not on mine...too many CNY winters. Or CABT......but not with 1 daughter going to college next year and the other 4 years after that.
3. Really wish I had estate green instead of white.
