It hasn't been mentioned, but I wouldn't care about posted payload. As a business owner I have had many interactions with dot, and they (the law, dot) does not care about gvwr or published payload or gcwrs even in the slightest, they care about axle and tire ratings

100% correct. There are a few states that are looking now but for the most part, RV's are left completely alone.
Does anyone know how the gvwr/payload is calculated? The new srw has the same brakes as the drw f350, plenty of tire and axle strength. I'd love to hear from someone who really knows how gvwr is set by the manufacturer.
Great deal on the B&W. My only problem is their minimum height adjustment is 2" taller than the minimum height on the Reese and with the new SD's being so tall, it would never work for me.

Off topic, but why does a 5th wheel exist? Why can't they make the big campers use a gooseneck? Sucks a 5th wheel requires an expensive hitch that takes up a bunch of rooms and puts holes in the bed. Ha.
I guess it would depend on the 5ver. I have the Reese Elite which is the same as the Ford OEM. It's the shortest hitch on the market for the OEM prep. It's minimum adjusted height is around 14" while the B&W's is around 16". With my current truck I have my hitch all the way down and am just level. With the new SRW's being 2" taller I will be a touch nose high. If I had a B&W, I'd be 4" nose high at it's lowest setting.

There is the Reese Goosebox pinbox that can be used with a GN ball in place of a 5th pinbox and hitch. It's the only one that is approved by Lippert for their frames. Other GN adapters will void your warranty as they put too much stress on the frame and are known to crack them. The problem is the weak framing RV's use. They don't have a thick frame like a real GN trailer and can't handle the additional leverage a GN puts on the frame by lowering the truck to trailer attachment point down to the truck bed.
They were initially but the new ratings no longer reflect that for the SRW's. The initial reasoning was they were limited by the rating of the hitch offered and Ford recommends the 18k hitch for the SRW's. But since they figured you can run a 25k or a 27.5k on a SRW, they upped the SRW 5th rating to match the GN rating. The DRW trucks are still limited by the 27.5 5th rating as it's the heaviest 5th hitch available...
