A guy on Facebook has a '52 parts truck for sale and posted these pictures of the engine. I've never seen an air cleaner like this. Is this stock? I am thing that the engine is from a newer truck, maybe a van or a larger truck, maybe a COE? The frame looks like it originally had a flathead V8, it doesn't have the '52 six cylinder towers on it and there looks to be a mount of some sort in mid engine area. The front mounts look cobbled together with a couple of pieces of bench 1/8" plate.
I would say the I6 engine is definitely from the 1950's because of the valve cover attachment. Older engines had just a 2 bolt arrangement. I'm not sure when the change was made--sometime in the 60's probably.

1960/64 223 I-6: The valve cover is retained by 8 bolts around its perimeter.
What Packard has a "2 carb setup" besides 1955/56 V8 Caribbean's? These used the same dual quad air cleaners as Cadillac's with dual quads.
