Moon roof

Truck's been through the car wash a couple times already - and it appears that the high pressure nozzles force a little water through the moon roof. Hard to tell exactly where...but it definitely is. Headliner not wet - but couple drips on the console, etc. The shade part was open. I know that moon roofs are basically designed in a way that a little water could get through and it drains down the pillars in little tubes. Makes sense that super high pressure water could be forced through the seals...still kind of sucks though. If it persists or gets worse - I will be taking it in. Ordered 3 F250's for work today - asked my dealer if that was normal and he said no. Not sure what to do...

Not good. I have the moon roof too. We had pretty hard rain all afternoon today and I didn't have any leaks. Not the same as a car wash though. I'm too chicken to drive mine through one. I'm scared it won't fit-lol.

this problem has been beat to death on the f150 forums and since the roof are the same I think the problem has carried over to the super duty line also. short answer as of right now is that there is no official ford fix for our roof leak problems.

For some reason I feel a little better that its a known problem...but then really pissed because its an $80K truck! It doesn't appear to leak in the rain - is it a car wash type problem on the 150's or is it more wide spread than that? I don't want them taking the glass out of the roof, etc. That seems like it wouldn't end well! These trucks are so tall - right at the limit of most car washes which are 7' or so. The nozzles are so much closer to these trucks than most vehicles that would go through. I drive 50K+ miles per year - and gets cleaned 2-3 times per week... Hopefully I don't have to revert back to hand washing. The unlimited plan at the local car wash is the way to go.

Every Ford moon roof I've ever had has done this. I'm so used to it I unconsciously reach up and brace the back section when in the car wash, this seems to prevent any leakage. Looks like the new ones are much larger though.

I did a little quick Google research... Apparently its a "wet system" and that's normal. Irritating as it is - it makes sense. Mine really isn't that bad - but water definitely gets in and most of it is on the tracks and then drains. I think with the high pressure from the nozzles - some of is deflected as it enters and drips in the cab. I can't believe that would be ok though.

My 2012 didn't do it either - that I could tell anyway. That truck had been washed at least 100 times a year - for 4 years. But that was a sun roof - this whole roof being glass thing seems to be the issue. I didn't really want it - but it comes with the packages/trim level that I wanted.

I havent been through a carwash since I repaired my sunroof in my f150. The sliding brackets broke, from what I have read quit common and was supposed to be fixed in '14 and later.

My 2011 has never leaked either...BUT...look at the size difference of the glass. You would think it would seal super tight...but..maybe due to the size of the 150 and '17 Superduties.... it is harder to make it air/water tight....or as tight as we would like it.

I can pressure wash the windows on my house, the door on my wife's Benz, and make them all leak. Does that mean they were made by Ford's moonroof manufacturer????

Come on guys.

It may not be the pressure of the water that makes it leak. It's more likely the ridiculously strong fans that dry it off at the end. They make windows and seals rattle while blowing little beads of water around.

In the past it was known that practically all sliding sunroofs leak some....that is why there is a drip tray and tubes to drain them running down to under the vehicle. If water is getting into the cabin chances are one of the tubes is plugged or damaged. I doubt this has changed.

The hard top on my Rubicon leaks so bad, a couple drips would be a welcome surprise!
