Somehow this thread showed under "related topics" while I was browsing the 2017 forum..
On vaca in Cancun on the beach. I can hardly read the screen in this bright sun.
The internet here is loading the words one letter at a time and I have time for a quick dip in these warm emerald waters between sentences. Such is life in Mexico.
To the OP. You could not have wanted to delete. Come on son, open up, you likely need to get it out and talk about it, what better place to get therapy?
As far as early computing, I got this.
Early 1970s. Helping to pay my way through San Jose State University working on a paid research project through NASA Ames. No desktops in those days, just phone cradle modems tied into a mainframe off site (at Stanford as I remember).
My lab mate Jim and I were allocated so many hours per week of time on the mainframe strictly for use on the project (yea right, we were kids). We would sneek into the lab at midnight, log on and play Star Trek for all the time we could save up using a slide rule to vector shots ( shoot, can't remember what the weapons were called now) at the Klingons.
We killed hundreds.
Could not read all posts on this thread due to bright sun but if not yet.....beat that!
