Soooo, what I thought was going to be an easy cylinder swap went south I think. I pushed the new cylinder in and the back of the switch fell off and was hanging. Metal disc component fell in the floor. I pulled the other plastic component off the back of the mount. Can't seem to get it to all fit back together. Will I be better off just buying a whole new switch assembly?
I thought this would be an easy one like how to remove the cylinder ha ha. From the pics it appears as though the whole switch is worse for wear and I would just replace the whole thing.
I would get a new one too, the trick though, is to get a 'good quality' new one. I bought one from MAC's and the center pin felt loose/broken right from the start. I'm not knockin' MAC's, I've bought lots of good stuff from them, maybe I just got a bad one.
I ended up putting in a original part from my spare truck. Hopefully others can chime in on where they got their ignition switch and also address the quality. I'm sure that this has been discussed before, maybe search around the forum a bit, so you can get that F100 back on the road!
Same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. It just fell apart, saving me the trouble of fixing it. I bragged in a post that I got one locally (Lordco for the Canuckleheads here) for under $20 but I can't find the post. Made in China but the box said Canada on it so I'm feeling pretty patriotic.
