I was having various issues with my truck the last three weeks. I had intermittent power windows and instrument gauges, interior dome lights had a mind of their own, ESOF would not work, 3 different DTC's ( one unknown, PCM lost communication with instrument cluster, TCM lost communication with PCM), truck felt like it was starting in second gear and would not shift into OD, and engine would have a periodic miss. I pulled the instrument cluster and sent it off to Circuit Board Medics and had them work it over, upgrade it to LED lighting, and install a new lens. WOW! After I re-install the cluster all those problems were solved! I shipped it off Tuesday (UPS next day air and they had it on it's way back Thursday via FedEx next day service. I had it Friday at 4 pm and installed it this morning. Fantastic service from that company is what I want to tell you! If you are having similar problems then talk to these guys. I highly recommend them.
I am sending my 2004 E350 PSD 6.0 Instrument Cluster to Circuit Board Medics for repair. I am a little nervous about the disclaimer that the repair may not work.
I prefer a rebuild service. I see that Circuit Board Medics offers this for the F series.
The reputation Circuit Board Medics has on the forum is stellar.
When I purchased my truck I sent them my FICM to be checked out. They called when they had it on the bench and said there was nothing wrong with it but I told them to repair the known problem areas they did and sent it back to me. Still going strong and would use them again. Hope you have the same experience I did
I've sent them Volvo XC90 cluster that was going crazy and they repaired it and is still going strong.
The chat tech online was helpful and quick turn around on the shipping. That's been my experience.
Nothing bad , just following. In another FTE section the sweat solder was causing instrument panel black out , curious to see if this is the same culprit.

Actually on the top left corner if the board on my truck I found a bad joint but I reflowed it myself. That was years ago and can barely remember the joint or the symptoms it was causing.
i know its a old thread but I figure helpful,
I used DFW cluster repair to fix my cluster they fix F150-F350 Clusters and Mustang. I had them do a few of mine, my whole family from grandfather to son drive ford.
My repaired instrument cluster works great with the new LED lights. However, I just noticed the speed is off my 5 MPH. At idle, it reads 5 mph.
It's too late to send it back for repair and not worth the shipping charge. I figure I need to let Circuit Board Medics know that this should be checked prior to sending the units back.
I would use Circuit Board Medics again. Customer service is great. Turn around time is fast.
I have talked to them on the phone about some things and they were very good at helping. I would like to someday have then do the side gauges in the white background but because
my is an Amarillo and they have not had enough call for the white gauges on the side they have not had any face panels printed up that also have the Amarillo logo. I am thinking about
the LED option if I do need a cluster worked on.
I had the exact same symptoms as the OP in an 06 Amarillo and sent mine in to Circuit Board Medics, ordered the LED upgrade and replacement lens. I can also confirm a super-fast turnaround time, and their repair has solved all of my issues - another happy customer!

Would you do me a favor and post a night photo of how the cluster looks with the LEDS on in the dark?
