I've asked this in about 5 different threads and no one seems to know. Can the mirrors be set to fold in automatically when you lock the doors? This is how they are on my wife's Benz and it's a great feature.
Seems silly to have to push the button when you get out and then push it again when you get back in if you're in an actual parking spot and folks would have to do the limbo to walk past your truck.
Great question. My wife's car is the same and you are right it's nice and the large mirrors on the SD it would really be nice for them to be out of the way. Last thing I want to see walking out of the store is some kid swinging on my mirror or it broken from a bump.
I don't remember specifics, but I heard of some people wiring their mirrors so when they lock the truck it activates the mirror close function. They were able to do it on some 2008+ models. Not sure what all is involved though.
The 17s are simple enough with the single button touch. I know on my 11 I got in a habit of just flicking the **** back, so this is even easier while getting out.
Most aftermarket alarms with auxiliary inputs can do this. I had my last car where the windows would automatically roll up each time you set the alarm (in Oklahoma it rains out of nowhere sometimes).
I have to fold the mirrors to enter my garage and they stay closed when parked. It the mirrors auto opened with a door unlock in my garage they would hit a stair railing. My situation requires manual mirror control.
My wife's 2017 Ford Explorer mirrors have the auto fold feature. You can turn it on or off in the settings menu. I wonder if you can get the part to activate the system from ford's parts. Maybe someone can figure this out wants their is enough trucks out there.
