Checking 400M Block

Checking 400M Block
Guys,

My engine block I sent to the Machine Shop was un-rebuildable... I found a used block and crank on Craigslist. Anything I can easily check to insure it is not Scrap?

All you can do is look it over. Check bore size, who knows it may be maxed out. I wouldn't pay much for one.

Check for cracks in the valley.

If you can see honing marks in the cylinder it's a good thing. Look for blown out freeze plugs (overheating or freezing) and cracks between the cylinders.
