My TC tells me that I need an oil change. I am surprised. The vehicle only has 2600 miles and I thought the change came much later. Although, in the old days, an early change was advised to clean out the break-in oil and go for the steady stuff.


I'd be interested in comments regarding the early oil change.

2600 total, or since the last change? I've never seen one trip that low, but I wouldn't risk it for $40 bucks, or whatever coupons there are. I have seen, time and time again, service guys forget to reset the oil minder so if you changed it at 7000, the vehicle thinks its 9600k since last change.

2600 total miles. The manual suggests that a change at 3000 miles is the worst case scenario--extreme conditions and so forth. Whatever, I'm booked for Wednesday for my first oil change and, hopefully, my last horn fix.
