Short distance driving
Short distance driving
After 15.5yrs of having a company vehicle to drive(I guess you could call my Semi a company vehicle)and never having to take my personal truck out I've changed jobs and now will have to drive my F250 to work everyday.
Question is: I only live 6 miles from work and was wondering how bad that is going to be for the drivetrain or if it will get warm enough to keep the moisture burned off everything? The truck is a 2013 F250 with the 6.2l.
Feels like a stupid question but this is a new realm for me since the last job I had that required me to use my personal truck was 13 miles from home.

6 miles is a real short commute. I would drive it further a couple times a week to a least get it up to operating temp. It takes 20 minutes for my transmission to get to operating temperature.
Twice a week, maybe 3 times for 20 miles.. transmission is temperature controlled like the engine.. just slower to warm-up..
engine is hot in 3 miles.. trans takes some time.
but Yes, 6 is short. good thing its NOT a diesel .

You could also add and use remote start and let her sit in the driveway for startups prior to work and coming home. No more a waste of fuel than driving for the sake of it and less overall wear.
