I think Ford would do well if the Expedition styling more closely matched and kept pace with the Explorer.

I might be in the minority here, but I disagree. I love first gen Expeditions and one main reason was because it was an F-150 with an enclosed rear. It was Ford's full size best selling truck with a 3rd row and plenty of cargo area. I still miss my 1998 it was a fantastic truck

It's a truck and should be kept as such, I understand why the Explorer turned into a huge CUV but it's not a real Explorer to me.

I hate the newest spy photos, the previous ones I've seen as shown below look amazing to me.

A lot of things at play in the Expy since Gen 1 such as the IRS to better accommodate the fold flat third seat and a flat deck surface in the rear. Sadly, the second row seats are lacking needed space for larger passengers.

Ford has practically ignored this beast since the Gen 2 models came into existence. Current styling is bland at best and yet current pricing is stifling. More goodies yes but OMG already.

My 2004 has been a gem with the small V-8 and no transfer case. Where it lacks in power and overall capability it makes up for it in reliability. We no longer need a huge 5000 pound station wagon.

I'll definitely give the next Expy a look as it comes out about when I'm looking to get out of the Expy and replace it with something closer to our needs. Now that I'm within 10 years of full retirement, another high $$$ vehicle ain't happening.

i think it was more sign of the times thing for gen 1. when it came out, nothing looked like it as it and the f150 were more car like in design than its contemporaries. gm followed suit and there suvs took off while fords remainded somewhat stagnant. they did go back to the trucklike design for the 3rd gen from the car like design of the 2nd gen but it was even less well recieved design wise. hopefully a good balance is struck with car and truck.

I wish the Expedition's styling more closely matched that of the F-150. That said, taking styling cues from the Explorer might not be a bad thing if its done right. The Explorer is a good looking vehicle.

I really wish they would match the F150 as close as they could for the simple fact of aftermarket parts and accessories. For example it is impossible to find aftermarket towing mirrors that fit tight on the current Expedition and the mirrors in the picture looks like its going to be impossible. Also if it doesn't match or exceed the current capabilities this would be a no go for me. When Ford canned the Excursion they billed the Expedition EL as the replacement but now they are taking it further from being the heavy duty family and camper mover to just another station wagon.

The one thing I've liked about the Expy's all along as opposed to the F-150 of the last two generations is the front grill and fascia treatments. A little chrome may distinguish the trim levels but t hat's about it. On the F-150, there are about four different front grill treatments that all vastly affect the overall appearance of the truck. I'm not really hooked on the 2015 generation F-150 styling so an Expy with that front end treatment would be a no go for sure.

They haven't had an F-150 front end since 2002.

The early spy photos are what I'm referring to.

Looking again today at those new photos, I can't bring myself to believe those bloated CUV photos are of a new Expedition. The previous spy photos that look like an F-150 make much more sense.

If I recall a few months back Ford said they are brining 4 new SUV's to the table in the coming years...or something to that effect maybe this is a complete new CUV/SUV thing?

Or rather F-150 hardware was fitted to the test mules as camo.

But if you look they had specific rear doors with new F-150 handles built in, seems like a lot of extra work for something you don't actually plan to produce.
