Exclamation

We have had FMPP on three of our trucks.
I can't say we were too impressed with it on our last two.

I looked at the cost of FMPP for the new diesel and spoke with different service managers over the years from different dealerships.

Over all advice was it's not as expensive as the front office says it is.
I figured out to be almost half of the money they claim in the front office over the whole contract.
Ford has changed a lot of items they used to change. Now it seems mostly wipers and oil Change. And the odd filter.

My new 17 I will be paying straight out of pocket for its oil changes.
But I may put the money into the extended warranty. Still reading on it.

You mean you can't even change your own oil.....or you just don't want to?

If there is any reason you need someone to do maintenance and other checks I would recommend establishing a strong relationship with a local garage who is willing to service your vehicle thoroughly or purchase the maintenance plan through your dealer, provided the dealer is standup and trustworthy. Through a fluke in purchasing our Lincoln there was confusion which resulted in the dealer making the car right but also 3 years of complete car care. We love it: having the routines handled by a competent service department is one less maintenance I need to perform. Makes me smile everytime it goes in for service.

It's almost refreshing to hear someone have such confidence in dealer service. Personally, I've just heard too many horror stories of the lube guys putting in the wrong oil or incorrect amount. I get not wanting to crawl around under the truck if it's no fun anymore.

I am considering the Maintenance plan, not so much that I dont want to climb under the truck, but trying to find a place to take all the oil is a pain.

Don't have the time to do it plus the hassle of discarding it even if I do but mostly it's the time.

GF's Mariner already goes to the shop for it's oil changes since I refuse to do them. My arm doesn't have enough joints to reach to the filter.

I think my new truck will be heading there as well. Getting tired of crawling under the truck, and since I don't have a shop to work in, February oil changes really suck.

Thankfully I have a dealer who has a great service dept.

For a FMPP I think the dealership service department is the key. I had my 2011 serviced at the Ford dealership were I live and it was a nightmare. I purchased my 2017 from the Ford dealership in a town south of me just to get their service department for service.

Last car was a Lincoln LS and that car got us started on the dealer oil/service route. I still do my truck. I do not understand, however, that the car (now an MKC with a service plan) used to cost $24.95 for 5 qt oil and filter change and my 7.3 15 qt oil and filter change was $139.95. Maybe it was the charge for the added electricity to run the lift that I am not taking into account or the 7 grease fittings. I buy full synthetic for my truck but the dealer uses their standard Ford oil. I guess, being intrinsically frugal about a few things like service will continue the yoga program every service cycle.

We travel all of the time so my question is this: Is the service plan honored at all ford dealers?
