Is it my understanding that we do not have to go to the dealer for scheduled maintenance to keep us under warrantee? If we do not have a book signed saying we had this or that inspected we will void the warrantee? Is there anything that we cannot do at home, or at another repair place that would void our warrantee?
I would boil over if I bought the premium maintenance place, went in and got charged for something...but I am considering it.
thanks for any insight on this...

You do not need to use the dealer scheduled maintenance, but you must keep records (log all services including diy and keep receipts for everything).
As to the mainenance plan, we are not getting one. For over a decade we have had our scheduled maintenence, tires and common repairs (i.e. brakes) done by a local garage with us providing full synthetic oil and all types of filters. Before we bought our truck we asked them questions about servicing diesels (this is our first diesel) and they knew all the right answers. The best part is with us providing oil and filters they are not going to charge us more for oil changes with enigine and cabin air filter replacement and occasional used oil sample collection, which we send to Blackstone Labs for analysis, then they charge us for our gassers ($20). Until we buy our first set of tires from them rotations are $20. After we purchase tires from them rotations are free.
I have the premium plan on my wife's edge (but am a proud F-150 owner myself lol). How do I actually use the coverage? It's due for its first oil change and I'm not sure if they just know I have it when I go to the dealership for the service, if they just look it up in the computer by my name, or if I should have received a card or something showing I have the coverage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have given up on the Jiffy lube type places. They hire idiots. Every single time I've tried them the truck comes out with the wrong amount of oil in it, or a leaking filter. To add insult to injury there's always grease on the seat, headliner or steering wheel.
The dealership, to its credit has been trouble free on all accounts.
I purchased the premium care package for one very simple reason, 2017 is the first year of the redesign and I knew there will be issues that come up during ownership. Having all services done by the dealership removes all doubt when they try to weasel their way out of proper warranty coverage. I will still do an oil change myself between the recommended 7500 changes the dealership will do, because I'm old and going 7500 miles on the same filter seems absurd.
Plus. by the time I get to the 52.5K service, the service plan pays off and all further services will be on Ford.
I did all the maintenance on our 05 F-250 and kept a log and receipts. Ford did a buy back on it after 10 years. Their lawyer asked me if I kept records like that on all my cars? When I told him I had records like that for my lawn mower he closed his briefcase and that was pretty much the end of it.
I am on my 3rd new Superduty. The 17 is the first one where I bought the extra warrenty and the maintnenace package. I am covered for both to 200,000 Km, and 8 years. I did not do the extra charge for synthetic oil, as they use semi synthetic 10w30 in the regular package. I to did all this because of the new model year changes. I to keep very good eprecords when I do my own service, but the issue of getting rid of the old oil, buying filters over the counter, oil, and all the products for maintnenace make the service worthwhile. Further by doing both, there is no where near the likely hood they are going to try and squirm out of any issues.
Just the cost of oil and filters, fuel filters, cabin air filters, collects emcee filters will cover the cost of the plan. Not only that, they do brakes, caliper pin lines, tire rotations, transdiffs, transfer case, hubs, ect. That alone is a $2000 service bill at the dealer. So, that is what I did, and while at first I second guessed myself a bit, I have settled in and we will see what my experience is by the end of the 8 years. Already done two oil changes and tire rotations, cabin filter, ect.
Yes, I check everything after a service to make sure all tight, oil level correct ect. I am still paranoid.
I don't have my truck yet but I am trying to get all this straight. Going back thru my past trucks I am a 7 year/125,000 miles guy. I will get an ESP thru one of the online places after I take delivery. Now trying to figure out if I should do the Maint plan. Fully capable of doing Oil and Filters but probably not Coolant, diffs, etc...This is my first diesel so I am a little apprehensive. If this was a gas truck I wouldn't even consider it.
So, there are 3 different mileages to choose from 5K, 7.5K and 10K. The Ford Maint schedule for normal driving conditions seems to follow a 10K but after reviewing multiple threads on here I don't really see anyone that gets to 10K or chooses not to. a friend of mine has a 14 F350 and he says his oil change goes off about 6-7K. I would say his driving is similar to mine. I also thought I could do the 10K and just fill in Oil changes on my own if needed but I like the idea of it all being on Ford. SO what are some opinions on mileage amounts?
The next question I have is the Maint Plan pretty much equates to the amount of visits. A 7 year/125000 mile plan at 7.5K increments equates to 17 visits. Does Ford clock your mileage and only allow you to come in on certain intervals or if I wanted I could go in for 17 days straight and get my oil changed(I know this is silly) and the plan would be fulfilled by Ford?

Not a silly question. I only put about 7,000 miles on per year. The time frame would run out after 7 or 8 services. Another reason I do my own maintenance.
I also purchased a 7/125 7500 mile plan. Have been very happy so far. I have done my own changes in the past, but decided with the 2017 let Ford take care of it with oil they say is best ( knowing I pull a 5th wheel ) and any problems I have, no questions as to who did the work. When looking at oil and filter x17, fuel filter x 8, DEF x (app 7 gal ) x 17, coolant flush when schedule, lube of all hubs, air filters when scheduled and rear diff change at 100k, seems a good buy and I don't have to get rid of old oil and filters etc....
