Alrighty so this morning I went to go start my truck today and when I let out the clutch pedal it stayed down so I nudged it towards me with my foot, so I pushed in the pedal again same thing except I waited a few seconds and it came back up on its own, popped the hood and the reservoir was a bit low, I topped it off with some atf I have in my tool box gave it a few pumps and it came back up on it's own then I tried putting the truck into gear and she wouldn't go into any of em 1st-Rev, so I shut the truck off (at this point im thinking my clutch went out) so I popped the e brake put it in 1st, clutch and went to start the truck it rolled forward a few inches (I've been told that if your clutch is going out, when you start it in gear, clutch in then the vehicle will roll) after I started the truck the second time, I pumped the clutch like 3 times and held it, went through 1st-Rev, feeling concered I went omw to work, she shifted decently, as I was almost to work there's this hill close to my work and I was In 4th doing 45-55mph, went to put it in 5th and it took a second or 2 longer to get it 5th (seems as if the synchro was "behind" I got to work asked a buddy what he thought of it and he said first off that atf in my clutch reservoir is gonna eff things up since it should take brake fluid and that I need to flush the system since I put atf in there (I have a hydraulic clutch) if I do need to flush the system how do I go about that/does anyone have a good write up on it, lastly, if it helps I didn't drive the truck at all yesterday and when I've tried to shift in to reverse lately I've had to try 2-3 times in orDer to get into reverse, she doesn't slip out of gear and I'm hoping my shift forks aren't goin out after 20k the truck in question is my sig truck 1995 f150 ecrb I6&m5od 2wd
Brake fluid for clutch...ATF for the transmission. Don't get them confused.
I'm not sure on the procedure to flush the system, but I'd be worried about the seals in the system now. Hopefully a flush and fill with proper fluid fixes the problem.
Thx yall hopefully the system won't be effed now, what I added in atf was probably a little less than a shot glass worth of atf, hopefully I can get some more leads as to what it is
It only takes a few ounces to fill the system. You might be able to bleed it out from the bottom and keep filling with brake fluid.
If it was leaking down, then likely master/slave are going out and need replaced anyway. The fact you put ATF is not helping, but not sure flushing it out will help now.
Ok so got my new master and slave cylinder in, bleeding it right now how ever the rod that was supplied with my new master makes my clutch pedal sit a little lower than before I replaced the master I'm unsure of whether or not that's good any insight?....
I I took a video of the slave cylinder movement whike havinthe a friend i pedal the clutch pedal and I also took pictures of the clutch pedal, the clutch pedal like I said seems to sit lower than it did before i replaced tge mastr&slave and now with putting in the new rod the gave me only have half of the travel I had originally so I'm very concerned with that and I'm also very hesitant to actually start my truck because I do not want my clutch to be halfway engaged 24/7 while it's running
Even tho I've got the slave to the point that it shoots out a decent steam when I open the bleeder screw? I just geek like the rod I was given is to short
They sometimes need to be bled an annoying amount of times in order to get it to full operation. Like 100 pumps per bleed and 30 bleed cycles. Sometimes it's only a few....nature of the beast.
One last thing should my slave cylinder be touchin the clutch fingers? I was going to limp her home after work but after thinking about it I realized that it might not be a good idea if my clutch fingers are touching the slave
