I just completed a 1000 mile trip to northern BC and back I do this every year. Last year I drove a Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi with 3.21 gears and German made 8 sp transmission and I averaged 21.2 mpg (MDS turned off). This year with F150 5.0 with 3.31 gears and 6 sp transmission i averaged 18.6 mpg. The weight of the two are pretty close with the F150 being a little less and actual travel time on the roads was very close. The only real difference are the transmissions. I'm not saying the new 10 sp will have the same effect but hard to explain the difference.
The 8 speed is nice. I test drove a few Rams, diesel and gas, and I was impressed. We have it in our Grand Cherokee and it is smooth. I hope the 10 is similar.

I hope it works as well. The GM/Ford joint venture 9 speed is just around the corner for the crossovers, sedans and small utes.
OK so somewhere between zero and 3 more MPG's It does seem like a ton of money went into developing it with GM for it not to make at least a couple more MPG's
I've read the new 3.5 EB engine refinements will and will not make for better MPG's but the ones saying it will are talking like one mile more at best.
What's the best guess when the official numbers will be released?
Seems odd to me you can order the truck now and not know what you are getting.
