P0087 P2291
Hey guys, I'm hoping to get some input on a current issue I'm trying to help a buddy out with.
2008 6.4L had a P0087 and intermittent limp mode to start, at this point my buddy was recommended by a ford tech to replace the high pressure pump. Since then he went ahead and replaced the high and low pressure pump, harness, low pressure pump, fuel filters and bled the system. Trucks running worse than before and is now setting P0087 and P2291, it idles fine but under heavy throttle from low speed or stop truck will fall flat on its face until you let off to at least 1/2 throttle if you get it going it will run fine but feels like it's in limp mode restricting power and boost. I've watched the live fuel rail pressure desired vs actual and they seem to stay pretty close, low pressure pump is 4 psi at idle and after everything was replaced im not sure where to start looking. If anyone has input it would be greatly appreciated!

6.4 issue
Yeah I found the issue, pulled a fuel sample from the left head fuel line and confirmed the fuel system was contaminated with metal debris from the original high pressure fuel pump. Disconnect the low side fuel pump, disconnect the driver side fuel line to the rail and have someone crank it while you catch the fuel in a clean container and check for metal in the fuel .if it's contaminated your going to need new injectors, HPFP, all fuel sensors and probably fuel rails, fuel cooler, flush fuel lines, fuel filters, possibly prime pump and then pull and clean tank and be through making sure all metal is removed !
