Flareside Tail Light Pigtail

Quick question for you bullnose vets.

Idiot that had the truck before me didn't want to spend 10$ on a trailer wiring T. Spliced into my Tail Light wiring pigtail (luckily right AFTER, the plug) I'm pretty good with soldering, as I fix up old electronics from time to time. I was lazy and wanted to make sure everything worked, so I wire-nutted and taped everything back together, one of the connections came loose again the other day.

Now, Is the pigtail specific to the flareside tail lights and all that jazz? or can I take the pigtail from any styleside. Does anyone know where to source the wiring harness piece to replace if it is specific?

If not, like I said, I will solder and heat shrink it all back together, no big thing, I just would LIKE to have an un-mucked-with wiring harness back there and was wondering if I could snag one from any ol junkyard bullnose.

Thanks

When you say "after the plug" this would be the rear tail light harness plug right?
The one you would pull apart to install the trailer "T" harness if so I would think they would be all the same.
The harness between the front harness, were it plugs in under brake master and runs back to that rear plug would be different based on later truck used electric pumps in the tanks and different duel tank switching valves.

Could be wrong also?

Dave,

Yup, AFTER the plug that connects the tail light harness to the "intermediate" harness which runs along the frame rail. Like I said, someone could have spent 10$, unplugged the connection and slipped a T piece in, but luckily they cut into the "shorter" length of wire which really just does tail lights/revese lights/license plate illuminators

I only ask because of the wiring going to the "external" flareside jeep style tail lights. Not sure how different (if at all) a regular box would be, and I don't have one to look at...

Bill, If I read it right 14405 is the mid ship harness.
13404 would be the tail light harness as it said "to 13404 (rear harness)".
Would you have the applications for the rear harness for that year?

Doncha think that after 35 years, I would know what a 13404 is?

13404 is a right tail lamp assy. (Styleside shown).

No did not question you but I thought the OP wanted to know about the rear harness that plugs into the mid ship harness.

I not being a parts man would think when the drawing points to "13404" it would be the rear light harness and not a light assy.?.

If I read this right would 13A409 be the rear light harness that would plug into harness 14405? I now see in the first picture 13A409 kind of grayed out. Who would think it was pointing to the rear light harness?

Just trying to learn a little so the next time I "hope" to know what numbers you guys are talking about and how to read the pictures.
Thanks for your under standing and all the help you bring to this forum.
