Ok my truck tops out at about 85-90mph. Now I heard from a friend that there is a thing that you can remove to make it gain more speed. Where is it and how do I remove it.

I have a 95' Ford F-150 XLT
2wd 5.8L 351w/240hp.

Driving a F150 at 85 to 90 Mph is dangerous , It was never designed to handle properly at those speeds ....Its a truck , not a race car . Driving a truck at those speeds on a public hwy not only puts you at risk , but also anyone else on the road with you . The engine / speed controls are there for a reason .

Paul is right, if you want to race your truck, do it properly and as safely as possible, without putting the rest of us in danger. There is nothing you can phyiscally take off that limits your speed, it's done through the computer.

Ok first off I didn't mention anything about racing so I don't know why you’re preaching to me about it. Second don't you EVER tell me what or what not to do with my truck, that’s my truck and if I want to race it I will. Lastly you have to remember something it’s not the truck that can't handle the 85-90mph IT'S THE PERSON. Oh and thanks for the so called help.

P.S HAVE A NICE DAY

Well, why would you want to drive your truck at 90mph w/o trying to race it? Doesn't mean its against someone else. Don't get ticked at us because we share the same roadways as you do and don't want to have you lose control and hit us with our family in the car. A truck is not a race car, it IS not ment to handle high speeds. They have a high center of gravity and can lose control at higher speeds easier then a car. Also, your tires are probably not certified to be going at real high rates of speed in excess of 90mph, so what happens if your tire blows out at 100...110? Do you think you can control it Mr. Jeff Gordon? Fact of the matter is, EVERYONE thinks that they are a better driver then they are, especially guys, and the truth is that you are not, and i am not. I'm 17 and i am giving advice about speeding? What is going on here?

Well, i try to be the best driver i can be. I dont let myself get distracted and i dont do stupid things like going 100 on the highway. I only do that kinda stuff where it is safe and logical, besides that, my parents would take my truck away, and we cant be havin that.

Hey zemus..IM 22 and drivers like you are the reason I have to pay high insurance rates. You better pray that you don't wreck with my truck going that fast because if I survive, I will make sure I'll beat your ##### to a pulp if you didn't die just to teach you a lesson. Just be careful how you drive and who you wreck with, you might **** the wrong person off.

well, actually your truck SHOULD be able to go faster than 85-90. I think the speed limiter is somewere around 100 from what other people on here say. And since you have a 351 I doubt your powering out at that speed. I think what happends when you hit the speed limit is the fuel pump shuts off and your engine temporarily dies. BUT, I say that anyone that goes to the point that their engine shuts off is insane or doesn't have much care in the world. When I hear people talk about hitting the speed limiter at 105, 107, 110, etc and then the fuel pump shuts off and it scares the #### out of THEM, it really makes me wonder. Me personally, im in no hurry to go that fast and now with my truck lifted I doubt it will see over 75, and thats pushing it.

Yes , I agree , The whole going around the speed / Rpm limitation stuff is irresponsible as it pertains to driving on public roads . A truck is a truck , Its not a race car .... This Is The End Of This Particular Thread .Thanks

hey if it is anything like a 92-96 F150 if you pull fuse number 8 it stops the speed limiter and the inside cab light plus the speedo the odometer and the tripometer. Only use if you have a Tach. The truck will do about 120mph if you have it modifyed it will do about 130 with a tail wind and if you do this buy a after market speedo so you know what you are doing and if you are going to do this make sure you can drive before you try this. i am 16 but those are the words or my father who has many speeding tickets and i don't want to pay that much for insurance.
