Hi guys, it's been a while. Hope everyone is doing well! Well I have an H&S tuner and AFE exhaust sitting around for 3 or 4 years wondering why I bought them, but I finally decided to do the delete! So tonight I was disconnecting the EGR and EGR butterfly valve connector and took a look into the butterfly valve and was really shocked to find so much soot! I took the butterfly valve off to get a better look. There is seriously between 1/4 and 3/8 inch thick coating of dirty soot on the valve, and further into the intake manifold looks horrible.
I know the EGR system returns some soot into the intake, but this seems ridiculous! The truck has about 33k miles on it. It's stored in winter, and about 2/3 of the miles are cross-country summer hauls with the 20k fifth wheel.
Please see the photos. Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Carl
