Ok guys, where can I get a new abs valve, these brakes are killing me.
Thanks jim
I'm gonna bypass mine. The ABS on these trucks is the biggest joke I've ever seen. My brakes suck too. Every thing new on the rear, new pads and rotors on the front, swapped the valve, module, master and booster out of three other trucks......brakes still suck. I tow heavy, and at times, VERY heavy. If I have to make a panic stop while towing heavy with my goose neck trailer, I WANT something to lock up and stop me! LOL!
You are sure right, this brake system sucks and I had a 1992 that was just as sorry.I was looking under mine today and it looks like mine has two abs valves, one on frame under front door and one on frame under back door, didn't know these things came with two, will look some more tomorrow, don't know how we got along for so long before ford put this mess on them.

Only one. The one toward the rear is the tank selector valve.
Test the RABS valve to make sure it's good....new doesn't necessarily mean good. There is a big hex plug on one end of the valve...takes about a 1 5/16 wrench (crescent wrench size). Some have a little rubber plug in the middle, some don't. Behind this hex plug, you'll find the accumulator spring and the backside of the accumulator piston. If you've got the little rubber plug, pull it out and stick a piece of stiff wire in there until you hit the back of the piston...then have someone fire up the truck and bury the brake pedal....if the piston pushes your piece of wire back out of the hole, then the dump valve is stuck open/leaking and the valve assembly is shot. If you don't have the rubber plug...just unscrew the big hex plug and remove the spring...hold a screwdriver agaisnt the back of the piston for the test.
Gently clamp off all 4 flex lines. there is only one flex line to the rear brakes and a larger soft hose going to the RABS.......that will be the 2 lines on the rear end housing.
The front has a flex line to each caliper.......remember do not try to crush them ....the ID. is only 1/8 inch
start the truck and mash the brake petal.......it should be hard as a rock......if not you have an issue with the master cylinder.
next remove one C-clamp at the time starting in the front..........if petal is still hard install the clamp back on the line and move to other side.
Continue to check all 4 hoses one at the time....you should find where there is air in the system
