speaker wiring
I actually wanted to know how to find out why my back right speakers keep jumping on and off. I have a 94 Ford Explorer E.B.
How and where do I start?
Thanks for keeping me straight.

There are a few trhings that could cause one of your speakers to cut in and out. One could be a loose conncetion on the radio board itself - where the solder on the board has cracked and moves when you hit a bump - thus basically loosing connection. Another problem might be the speaker (or speaker wire) is fraid somewhere and is grounding itself. I would start there. Take the door panel off to get to the speaker. Check the wiring on/around the speaker to make sure there are not any spots where the wire is broken or coming apart.
Unless you are good with electronics, I would not mess with the board in the radio personally. I would remove the radio and take it to a local electronics place and have them look at the board for any solder problems...
Another idea - geet an aftermarket head unit and a good set of door speakers nad have a new clean sound...
Good Luck!!
I am not that mechanically inclined that I can do it myself. I will need to take it to someone who knows what they are doing. I thought it would be something simple.
I did take the panel off of the speaker cover. The speaker appeared to be enclosed in a casing that is screwed to the body of the truck. ( I am talking about the speaker in the rear back portion of my truck).
I am getting new speakers so perhaps just starting all over could be the key.
Thanks for the info.
